CLE Webinar: Your Side, Your Story – The Advantage of Being Heard at Mediation

Borkowski, Esq. and Larry P. Schiffer will present Your Side, Your Story: The Advantage of Being Heard at Mediation, as part of the Celesq AttorneysED Center in partnership with Thomas Reuters. The 60-minute webinar will be live-streamed on Tuesday, April 4 at 12 p.m.

NAM's esteemed panel will discuss key issues in dispute resolution, with a focus on the importance of giving a voice to the parties involved in a matter. One of the key advantages of mediation is to be heard by a neutral party who is genuinely interested in the facts and arguments giving rise to the dispute. Mediation allows all  parties to tell their story to someone who is listening and empathetic to their issue. This is central to a successful mediation. The program will also address the benefits of mediation, the role of the mediator and other parties present at the mediation, the purpose of a mediation statement and other insights into the process, as well as best practices to keep the mediation focused to ensure a successful outcome.

Meet the Presenters

Mr. Borkowski's distinguished career spans more than 30 years with a practice focused primarily on litigation at the trial and appellate levels in both the state and federal court systems. He has represented insurance carriers, corporations and individuals in personal injury, construction, litigation, general liability, premises liability, property damage, automobile and commercial litigation (both plaintiff and defendant). Mr. Borkowski is well-known within the New York Metro area legal community, having served as lead trial counsel for hundreds of cases in nearly every county, and in all five boroughs of New York City. In 2022, for the third year in a row, Mr. Borkowski was voted a Top Ten Arbitrator in the New York Law Journal Best of Survey.

Mr. Schiffer  is one of the foremost authorities on insurance/reinsurance and has a wealth of knowledge and experience that spans both the property and casualty and the life and health markets.  He has provided counsel and advice on a wide variety of insurance and reinsurance issues that include coverage, insolvency, commutations and recaptures, due diligence for corporate transactions and investments, reinsurance audits and inspections, cyber insurance, claims analysis and related issues. Mr. Schiffer is available to arbitrate and mediate insurance, reinsurance matters nationwide.
